Filament Profiles¶
Supported Filaments¶
The My Cloner 3D Printer supports a variety of filament types. Below is a list of commonly used filaments and their properties:
PLA (Polylactic Acid)¶
- Print Temperature: 190-220°C
- Bed Temperature: 50-60°C
- Properties: Easy to print, biodegradable, low warping
- Uses: Prototyping, toys, models
ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)¶
- Print Temperature: 220-250°C
- Bed Temperature: 80-110°C
- Properties: Strong, durable, higher warping
- Uses: Functional parts, automotive components
PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol)¶
- Print Temperature: 220-250°C
- Bed Temperature: 70-90°C
- Properties: Strong, flexible, low warping
- Uses: Mechanical parts, containers
TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane)¶
- Print Temperature: 210-230°C
- Bed Temperature: 30-60°C
- Properties: Flexible, durable, wear-resistant
- Uses: Phone cases, gaskets, flexible parts
Optimal Extrusion Temperature¶
Finding the optimal extrusion temperature for your filament is crucial for achieving high-quality prints. Below are the recommended temperature ranges for different filament types:
PLA¶
- Optimal Temperature: 200-210°C
- Notes: Lower temperatures can result in under-extrusion, while higher temperatures can cause stringing.
ABS¶
- Optimal Temperature: 230-240°C
- Notes: Ensure proper ventilation as ABS emits fumes when heated.
PETG¶
- Optimal Temperature: 235-245°C
- Notes: PETG is prone to stringing; fine-tune retraction settings.
TPU¶
- Optimal Temperature: 220-230°C
- Notes: Print slowly to avoid clogging and ensure good layer adhesion.
Retraction Settings¶
Proper retraction settings help reduce stringing and blobs on your prints. Below are the recommended retraction settings for different filament types:
PLA¶
- Retraction Distance: 1-2 mm
- Retraction Speed: 30-50 mm/s
ABS¶
- Retraction Distance: 1-2 mm
- Retraction Speed: 30-50 mm/s
PETG¶
- Retraction Distance: 1-1.5 mm
- Retraction Speed: 20-40 mm/s
TPU¶
- Retraction Distance: 2-3 mm
- Retraction Speed: 20-30 mm/s
Cooling Settings¶
Cooling settings are essential for achieving high-quality prints, especially with materials like PLA. Below are the recommended cooling settings for different filament types:
PLA¶
- Fan Speed: 100%
- Notes: Use full cooling to improve print quality and reduce stringing.
ABS¶
- Fan Speed: 0-20%
- Notes: Minimal cooling to prevent warping and layer separation.
PETG¶
- Fan Speed: 50-70%
- Notes: Moderate cooling to balance layer adhesion and print quality.
TPU¶
- Fan Speed: 0-30%
- Notes: Minimal cooling to maintain flexibility and layer adhesion.
