Chapter 17: Spool Holder

The final step of the physical assembly is the spool holder. This simple assembly mounts to the rear of the frame and guides filament smoothly to the toolhead.

Step 1: Assembly and Mounting

1. Assemble the few printed parts that make up the spool holder arm and the spool axle.
2. Mount the spool holder base to the top-rear aluminum extrusion of the frame using M5 T-Nuts and M5x16 BHCS.

Step 2: Route the PTFE Tube

The reverse-Bowden tube is crucial for guiding the filament and preventing it from tangling or snagging.

1. Insert one end of the long PTFE tube into the spool holder assembly.
2. Route the other end through the opening in the top panel and down towards the toolhead.
3. Place a spool of filament onto the holder to complete the assembly.

The spool holder mounted on the top-rear of the frame, with a filament spool loaded and the PTFE guide tube routed towards the toolhead.
