Safety¶
Safety is fundamental when assembling, operating, and maintaining your MY-Mini-3D-Printer. Follow these recommendations, inspired by best practices from the My-Cloner-3D-Printer and Prusa Mini.
Safe Use¶
- Read the Manual: Always consult the user manual before operating the printer.
- Ventilation: Use the printer in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes.
- Supervision: Never leave the printer running unattended.
- Fire Extinguisher: Always have a fire extinguisher nearby.
- PPE: Wear safety glasses and gloves when handling hot parts or tools.
Electrical Safety¶
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check cables and electrical connections.
- Grounding: Ensure the printer is properly grounded.
- Avoid Water: Keep the printer away from water and moisture.
- Power Off Before Handling: Unplug before any maintenance.
- Do Not Overload: Do not use uncertified power strips or extension cords.
Thermal Safety¶
- Hot Surfaces: The nozzle and bed can reach high temperatures. Wait for them to cool before touching.
- Thermal Protection: Make sure the firmware has thermal runaway protection enabled.
- Ventilation: Print in a ventilated area to dissipate heat.
Power Supply Handling¶
- Check Voltage: Confirm the power supply is set to the correct voltage for your region.
- Visual Inspection: Look for signs of wear or damage before each use.
- Unplug Before Intervention: Never work on the power supply while plugged in.
Emergency Procedures¶
- Fire: Use an appropriate extinguisher for electrical fires.
- Electric Shock: In case of shock, cut the power and seek medical assistance.
- Burns: Cool the affected area with running water and seek medical help if necessary.
