Precision Editing With Numeric Edits¶
LightBurn’s Numeric Edits toolbar is a powerful set of tools for adjusting the size, position, and orientation of selections with pinpoint accuracy.
X and Y Position¶
- Coordinates: These fields set the horizontal (X) and vertical (Y) positions of your selection relative to a specific anchor point.
- The 9-Dot Control: This grid of dots determines which part of your selection the X and Y coordinates reference (e.g., center, top-left, bottom-right).
Width, Height, and Scaling¶
- Direct Input: Enter specific dimensions into the width and height boxes to resize your selection.
- Percentages: The boxes next to width/height allow scaling by percentage.
- Aspect Ratio Lock: When the lock icon is enabled, changing one dimension automatically adjusts the other to maintain the original shape's proportions.
- Anchoring: The 9-dot control also acts as an anchor for resizing; objects will grow or shrink relative to the selected dot.
Rotation¶
- Degrees: Enter positive or negative values to rotate your selection.
- Center of Rotation: The 9-dot control defines the pivot point. Rotating from the center dot keeps the object in place, while rotating from a corner dot will shift its position.
Unit Conversion & Calculations¶
- Metric/Imperial Toggle: Quickly switch between millimeters and inches for all LightBurn functions.
- On-the-fly Conversion: You can type measurements in a different unit than your current setting (e.g., typing "1in" while in metric mode) and LightBurn will automatically convert it.
- Math Equations: The position and size fields accept basic math equations (e.g.,
50 + 10). LightBurn will perform the calculation and update the field with the result.
